On the evening of Monday 9th August, the main warehouse of the PIAS distribution group was destroyed in a blaze in Enfield. The warehouse contained a large amount of stock from the UK’s main independent music labels. Although the stock was insured, the loss is having a marked effect on hundreds of indie labels, whose economic position is pretty precarious in the first place.

AIM (the association of independent music) has put together a fund to help affected labels keep afloat, and benefits for labels are being held nationwide, co-ordinated by Label Love.
Musician and producer Richard Norris has organised a benefit at Favela London, featuring a fine line up of London based DJ talent. ‘Everyone on the bill has been affected by this one way or another’, says Richard. ‘This is a chance to put a little back into the independent music community that we are all part of. And also to have a cracking night.’

DJ’s include Ashley Beedle, Justin Robertson, Pete Herbert, Richard Norris, Nathan Detroit, Ross Allen and Andrew Weatherall playing a rockabilly set.

THIS EVENT WILL SELL OUT! The DJ’s, PR, promoters, designers and venue have all given their services for free. All door money will go directly into the AIM fund.
